The Section of Developmental Biology, the only basic research division in the Department of Pediatrics, is home to approximately 75 faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and research staff. Our research spans a large breadth of topics relevant to child health, using mouse, zebrafish, Drosophila, cell, and organoid experimental model systems. The Section provides outstanding support for training and research including generous postdoc and graduate student travel awards to attend scientific conferences and special courses, cutting-edge light microscopy systems and image analysis software, a full-time microscopy specialist, and two full-time bioinformaticians. Our faculty are recognized as outstanding teachers and mentors and have leadership positions in several graduate training programs.
